This sequence, of course, was not on the cast recording. I am not sure which parts were written by the individual lyricists, but this was probably one of the instances where Wilbur "cleaned up" Latouche's lyrics after his [Latouche's] departure (the other being You Were Dead, You Know). It turns out that Dear Boy was first performed in the 1956 Boston tryout as part of the Lisbon Sequence. This is my personal favorite of the four Bernstein worded songs (the others are We Are Women, Words, Words, Words and Nothing More Than This.) The first version is sung by the usual characters and the second by Pangloss, the Baron and the King of Hesse.
